Here's how I took my boring black sewing chair and turned into something a bit of style.
To do this you will need:
Fabric of your choice (I don't think I used more than a half yard total)
Phillips and flat head screw drivers
pliers
Staple gun (mine plugs in)
Scissors
Here we go...
First you need to take your chair apart there were 4 screws holding the chair to the base and then four smaller screws holding the plastic piece to the wood. There were also 2 screws holding the top of the back on.
Here is a picture of the back and the plastic piece it was in:
You have to work the 2 pieces out of the plastic shells.
Then you need to pry out all the staples. I used one of my husbands flat head screw drivers and some pliers for this part
There were A LOT of staples in both pieces.
Once you get all the staples out you will take the old fabric off. There is a piece of molded foam underneath that I reused these pieces.
Next you're going to lay your wood piece with the foam attached on your fabric. I just made sure my fabric would fit all around using the piece that was on it as a guide and cut a rectangle.
After you get your piece cut out then you just staple all around pulling tight and carefully. Little folds around the corners help it from gathering on the front side.
When you're done you'll have some extra fabric to trim off.
Now you need to work your pieces back into the plastic parts they came out of and put your chair back together.
That's it!
This fabric is Flora and Fauna Ta Dot in black from Patty Young
I got mine at Above All Fabric
So cute! I have been needing to recover my chair for the longest time...
